Secret Caesar Dressing
This makes a tangy substitute for Caesar dressing. The trick here is to taste the final product and adjust to your own preference. Start with the basic ingredients listed below and add, taste, add, taste. Keep a pen and paper handy and write down your revisions to the recipe so you can make it again.
Ingredients* 1 cup mayonnaise
* 1/2 cup Ranch dressing
* 2 tablespoons garlic powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
* 1 tablespoon lemon juice
* 1 tablespoon dill weed
* 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
* 2 tablespoons white vinegar
* 1/2 teaspoon sugar
* water, as needed
Directions
1. Combine all ingredients in a sealable container (old mayonnaise or salad dressing jar works good).
2. Seal jar and shake vigorously to mix well.
3. Taste and adjust to your preference (see notes below).
Store in refrigerator
Notes:
If dressing is too thin, add mayonnaise and adjust spices as needed.
If too thick add water (a little at a time).
If too bland, add salt and vinegar
If too tart, add sugar, water and mayonnaise.
If you like a little spicy, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or 1 teaspoon horseradish.
