Picante Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
* 60 dried chiles de arbol (available in most large markets)* 1 1/2 tablespoons sesame seeds
* 2 tablespoons shelled pumkin seeds
* 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds (1/2 teaspoon dried cumin powder may be substituted)
* 4 teaspoons allspice
* 2 cloves (1/2 teaspoon dried cloves may be substituted)
* 1 teaspoon dried oregano
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 2 cloves garlic, peeled, chopped
* 3/4 cup cider vinegar
* 1 Cup Water
Directions
1. Stem the chiles and remove seeds.2. Toast Sesame seeds and Pumpkin seeds separately (place in dry skillet on medium heat. Heat just until seeds begin to color).
3. Place all ingredients in blender with water and vinegar. Blend until mixture is smooth.
4. Strain thru medium sieve, pressing and working solids to release their liquids.
5. Drain off some of the liquid if you want a thicker sauce.
6. Place in a sterile jar and refrigerate.
